We just received many new designs of tea tray. These tea trays are made in Fujian Province of China. We visited the manufacturing place, selected the products on the spot, and immediately segregated it from the rest of stock and packed it for shipment. It is to make sure that we have the right quality product.
There are many types of tea tray available in the market. Above all, we introduce simple and modern design instead of very traditional design. A person’s preference on particular design is very subjective and it is beyond my suggestion. Nevertheless, I feel that teapot appears better if it is placed on the tray with simple design. In some way, teapot and tea cup is made into more traditional style. The simple design of tray gives a contrast to the traditional item placed on top of it; on the other hand, if both are traditional designs, it looks a little too congested.
For myself, I like the design that is collaborate between stone and bamboo or wood. In fact, tray made of solely stone looks gorgeous. But we have to keep in our mind that if the lid of teapot is accidentally dropped on the stone tray, it may damage at once. The hybrid wooden or bamboo tray with stone carries both beauty and function.
The tray made of bamboo is the cheapest, yet most of the design is very attractive. Just we have to beware of its disadvantage: the bamboo tray may cracks if it is not used for more than a few weeks time, particularly in the beginning stage of usage. After using the tray for some time it becomes more stable as it absorbs water and tea substance sufficiently. Wooden tray is much more durable than bamboo tray, but the cost is higher. For me, I choose bamboo tray if I brew tea very regularly and if I wish to keep my budget very low.
There are two types of tray, box type and bench-top type. The advantage and disadvantage of these two types are as follows:
It’s portable and very convenient for carry from place to place; you can bring along the tea tray and brew tea in different places easily. It is neat since water and even the tea leaf is collected inside a box. There is no worry of blockage. Usually the box type is made in relatively smaller and more compact design compared to the bench-top type. Thus, the concern is about the limit of water volume. Once the volume reaches the maximum level, we have to remove all the water.
It usually looks more solid and appealing in design. Many stones or hybrid stone-wooden trays are also made in this style. If you have a fixed tea brewing area, this type is definitely purposeful and handy. Its function is just like a satellite kitchen. Any volume of water being drained is coming out though a drain-pipe. I usually collect drained water with a bottle. All I have to do is to watch out the water level in the bottle. The only disadvantage with bench top model is that it is not easy to move it around. Another point to take care is the drain pipe; sometimes tea leaves may be trapped there.
If you wish to get a tea tray, now it is the best timing. We just received more than 30 designs. Furthermore, we plan to display some photos of selected designs in our website soon. Those who are not able to visit our shop in Kuala Lumpur still have a chance to view and select the product. We are able to ship the item to oversea as well.
