Bu Lang Shan, the 1st Generation from the Wild Tea

I would like to introduce Bu Lang Shan raw Pu-erh, one of our popular line-ups. Tea is from Bu Lang village in Yunnan Province of China.

Who should consider this tea?

It is for those who look for tea that will not cause sleepless night.

The minority people who produce this tea are very healthy. They drink this tea everyday. This tea keeps our body warm as it improves blood circulation; eventually it works well for many aspects. It is not only good for the elderly people, but also for the person who wish to have good sleep.

The farmers who produce this tea have very good skin complexion.

In Bu Lang Shan village, I noticed that they have very smooth and beautiful skin complexion despite they are exposed to strong sunshine. They believe it is due to the tea that they drink everyday. As a matter of fact, we feel warm when drinking Bu Lang Shan raw puerh and our face blushes . It indicates that blood circulation is improved.

These photos showed the people who lives in Bu Lang village. They generally have very smooth skin, although their skin is suntan.

Looking for tea that gives intense flavour and good after taste

Its flavour stays on your throat and keeps ascending for a while. Its rich and long-lasting taste compliments well with your meal.

A very suitable tea to keep for further maturation
Tea with very long-lasting after taste is not only enjoyable to drink when it is fresh, but also good to keep. As far as I am ascertain, the flavour of tea comes from organic substances and it will get oxidized and change its structure from time to time. On the other hand, the after taste and the richness of the taste come from mineral content. The minerals exist in tea leaves are very stable and it remains no matter how long tea is being kept. We will still enjoy its long-lasting aftertaste even though tea is matured for some time.

We visited Bu Lang Shan and bought tea directly from farmer. This year, we selected the tea produced from tea tree aged about 500-800 years old.

The photo showed Akira Hojo, who always love to climb up the tea tree. Ha ha

Depiction about Bu Lang Shan

Bu Lang Shan is a town in south of Yunnan province. This town is facing to the national border of Myanmar. It’s a mountainous area with altitude at 500 to 2082m a.s.l, and nearly 67% of the area is forest.
The name of Bu Lang Shan is not really referring to the mountain but the area under Bu Lang Shan village. Bu Lang Shan covers historically very famous tea area, such as Lao Ban Zhang.
Many super old tea trees were left in this village, and tea’s quality is generally very good.
Bu Lang Shan village is one of the oldest ancient tea garden in China. There are about 53 small villages and majority is Bu Lang tribe, followed by Hani tribe and some are Lahu tribe and Han races. The population density is 16 people per km; it is the most sparsely populated border township in south of Yunnan.

Bu Lang tribe is the earliest tribe in Yunnan who started planting of tea. Up to date, they still practice traditional agricultural method that passed on over 1000 years ago. Most of the teas in Bu Lang Shan village are grown without any pesticide or chemical fertilizer.

We often stay at the farmer's house, eat what they eat, drink what they drink and sing what they sing.

Sunshine withering process

After the rolling and pre-fermentation process, tea leaves are dried under the sun.

As Bu Lang Shan village is the earliest place where human has ever started to grow tea, many ancient teas planted in Bu Lang Shan are the direct descendant of the wild tea (F1 generation). Many Bu Lang Shan teas still carry the character seemed reminiscent of wild tea. A common character of wild tea is bitter taste. The intensity of bitterness varies among the tea trees. The more we drink Bu Lang Shan tea, the more we are accustoming to the bitterness and finally we start to look for it.

We buy tea in loose form. We taste and confirm the quality on the spot. fter that tea is sent for compression into the shape we preferred.

Tea leaves are plucked in early spring. Tender leaf gives no bitterness and no astringent taste.

When drinking Bu Lang Shan Raw Puerh, we feel very warm and relax. It’s because of this tea is very rich in minerals, such as iron. Improved blood circulation will make us relax. For example, we feel relax if we drink alcohol, have physical exercise or get massage.

For now, Bu Lang Shan raw pu-erh is available both in Malaysia and Japan.

Shigaraki clay teapot made by Masaki Tachi

In Garden outlet, we brought in a number of Shigaraki clay teapot.
This clay is very suitable for brewing pu-erh, Japanese green tea, black tea and Taiwan high mountain oolong. It increases the after taste, gives smooth drinking feeling and maintains the flavour of tea very well.
If you never experience how much the taste of tea is improved with this clay, please visit our shop at The Gardens Mall, and and give it a try. Good clay releases iron ion. It is good for the person who look for better blood circulation or those who lack of iron.

This clay does not work well for Tie Guan Yin, Phoenix and Wuyi oolong.
