Wild Tea Tree in Wu Liang Shan, Yunnan
- [2013.03.20] Posted By Akira Hojo
In 2011, I visited Wu Liang Shan of Yunnan province in China. I was there to look for wild tea trees. In Yunnan, there are a lot of old tea trees that aged up to 1000 years old. However, many of the old trees are cultivated tea trees. When we refer a tea as “wild tea”, it means that the tea trees are grown in the jungle (forest) and it is 100% a native plant. In the market, the price of wild teas can vary a lot. Since wild teas have very limited production quantity, their selling price can sometimes go sky high, depending on how many layers of traders involved in trading.
These days, we often visit the tea gardens and tea production area in Yunnan. We established a good network and connection with local tea farmers directly. This is why we can introduce genuine wild raw pu-erh tea at a reasonable price.
