Nosaka Reduction Teapot

We have received some Nosaka teapots from Shimizu Ken. I was hoping to receive more number of Hohin and back handle teapot. However Shimizu Ken could not make it since he had been occupied for refining clay. I have added following lineup.

Nosaka Oxidation Fire

  1. Side Handle Teapot
  2. Hohin
  3. Samashi

Difference between oxidation and reduction fire

Apart from the appearance, the taste of tea brewed in different firing method is different.

After Taste

Reduction Fired Clay > Oxidation Fired clay

Body

Oxidation Fired clay > Reduction Fired Clay

Based on my experience, the reduction fired clay is suitable for green tea, pu-erh ripe tea, Tie Guan Yin and deeply fired oolong. If you are fond of the after taste, you can also use it for brewing phoenix dan cong oolong or other type of tea. Generally the drinking feeling of tea in reduction clay is pure and transparent.

Nosaka Reduction Fire
As for the oxidation fired clay, it is suitable for all types of fermented tea. Thanks to the body, you feel more flavor and richness in taste. It is up to your preference to choose either clay after all. If you like after taste, please go for the reduction clay, while I suggest oxidation clay if you like body.
